Question: What does Equalizer do?

Answer: Equalizer allow you to transmit high definition audio/video streams across long distance without any digital degradation. It also corrects any digital error in the stream and provides 40dB equalization to compenstate for any cable transmission loss. To ensure a crystal clear HDTV picture it will stop any digital noise (sparkles).

Question: What is the difference between PID# 2849 and 3394?

Answer: The only difference is the exterior. PID# 2849 has a black plastic casing, while PID# 3394 has a silver metal casing. The internal circuits are the same.

Question: Are these as effective as the built-in equalizers on some cables?

Answer: The add on equalizers are a one size fits all solution. Whereas, the built-in equalizer on an HDMI cable are usually specifically tuned to that cables length and gauge to optimize effectiveness. For this reason, we generally find the cables with built-in equalizers to be a more effective solution. However, in situations where cables are already in place, or a cable with built in equalizers are not available in the specific length needed, these would be then best possible solution.

Question: How do you connect these equalizers?

Answer: The equalizers should be connected on the end of a long run and not the beginning. This way they can compensate for errors that develope as the signal travels through the cable. One side of the equalizer is labeled, "source" and the other side is labeled, "sink." The source should point toward the origin of the signal and the sink should point toward your display.

The equalizer is in a coupler configuration so you will need a shorter cable to connect between the equalizer and the display.
